Starladder Adds Chinese Qualifiers

After the recent addition of an American qualifier for the StarLadder Season 9 Grand Finals, Starladder have announced that they will be holding a set of Chinese qualifiers for the Grand Finals as well, with two teams to make the trip to Kiev. 

Season 9 of the StarLadder will now feature an American team as well as two Chinese teams in the Grand Final in Kiev, Ukraine as Starladder have just announced that they will be holding Chinese qualifiers  for the LAN finals. The qualifiers will comprise eight teams, six of which have received direct invitations, and the other two will have to qualify through a pre-qualifier that will be played from 24th to 26th of February. The pre-qualifier will involve four amateur teams in the Chinese scene, and will be conducted in a round-robin, best-of-two format. 

The top two teams from the main qualifier will flown to the LAN finals in Kiev, which will be an 8-team event. As the past eight seasons of StarLadder have only featured 4 teams at the Grand Finals, this is a major shakeup in their event progress, and at the same time heralds a new era of international Dota 2 competitivity.

The "New Team" that is invited is the forthcoming and heavily rumoured Dream Team that has been on the cards since December. Although no formal announcement has been made, they have already been invited to their first major tournament. It is highly probable that details will be announced soon since the Chinese scene is about to end its hiatus and for the great Chinese shuffle to begin. 

The pre-qualifiers will take place at 1630 and 1900 CST (0930 and 1200 CET) daily from 24th to 26th February. All matches, including the main qualifiers will be casted by Beyond the Summit in English, Starladder.tv in Russian, and LGD.tv in Mandarin. More details regarding the European qualifiers and total prizepool have not been announced as yet.
