St. Mary’s ranks high on video game design programs
Princeton Review has named St. Mary’s University’s Computer Science Department one of the best graduate programs in the country for video game design.
St. Mary’s ranked 25th on the 2014 list. The Computer Science Department created a certificate program in educational computer gaming last March. The program is designed to prepare graduate students for careers in game-based learning.
The publication surveyed administrators at 150 institutions that offer coursework in game design. The survey looked at academics and faculty credentials to graduates’ employment and achievements. The survey also looked at data on curriculum, facilities and career services.
Carol Luckhardt Redfield, Ph.D., whose specialty is educational computer gaming, is the director of the St. Mary’s certificate program.
“Learning is inherently fun; let’s keep it that way,” she says.
The University of Southern California led both the top-25 undergraduate and graduate schools rankings. The full list can be found here.
